Book Review: DARK TRIUMPH by Robin LaFevers

When Sybella arrived at the doorstep of St Mortain half mad with grief and despair the convent were only too happy to offer her refuge - but at a price. The sisters of this convent serve Death, and with Sybella naturally skilled in both the arts of death and seduction, she could become one of their most dangerous weapons.
But her assassin's skills are little comfort when the convent returns her to the life that nearly drove her mad. Her father's rage and brutality are terrifying, and her brother's love is equally monstrous. But when Sybella discovers an unexpected ally she discovers that a daughter of Death may find something other than vengeance to live for...

Dark Triumph is one of the most amazing books I've ever read. I have waited for nearly two years to read this book in Turkish edition. I almost gave up buying this book in English edition but then finally I saw the cover in the internet and.. Yes I love Turkish edition cover more than US cover. You can see the cover at the right. What do you think? I think it's PERFECT!

I didn't expect I love this book more than the first one because I don't like Sybella in Grave Mercy. But in Dark Triumph, we can learn why she acts so cruel to everyone. She has a lot of reasons and these are so bad reasons. You can cry when you learn at least I cried.

Anyway, this review may contains spoilers, I will warn you!

I don't know how to start for review.. There is so much things to say about this amazing book.
I love historical- fiction books and Dark Triumph is the second book in the series but if you don't want to read book one, that's not necessary because the main characters are different but we can see the previous main characters in the next one. That's really interesting and unique.

Our main character is Sybella. She is an assassin who affiliated with Mortain. She kills people when she saw the mark on the people. She knows what to do and she doesn't scared of noone. Except one person: her father.

When she stayed in monastery, abbess send her to the castle which D'Albert 'her father' lived. She hated her, she had really happenings from him. She just want to escape from him but abbess betrayed her. The abbess can send another girl but she also hates Sybella so she wants so send her.

Sybella's first secret is being the daughter of D'Albert. Only the abbess knows in monastery.

“Hate cannot be fought with hate. Evil cannot be conquered by darkness. Only love has the power to conquer them both.”
When she stayed in D'Albert's castle, she tried to do her job quietly and waited for command to kill D'Albert. But the abbess send her a message that said she had to find Beast and send him to the duchess. She is mad because she just want to kill D'Albert. However, she searched Beast and found in prison. Beast is ugly, very huge but has a beautiful blue eyes. When Beast shows up in the book, I don't think that Sybella and Beast can be a great couple. But I love the romance between them and that makes me so excited to read more. I couldn't put the book down because of the chemistry between them. They are perfect and they suited very well to each other.

“For all that I have kissed before, I have never felt anything like this. It is as if I have swallowed a tiny piece of the sun, its warmth and light reaching into every corner of my soul and chasing away the shadows.
I surrender to that kiss - surrender to the strength and the courage and the sheer goodness of the man.”

“I was wondering, since I have kissed you three times now, if you might turn into a handsome prince.” At the sight of his quick, easy grin, I feel my heart dance in my chest. “Alas, you are still stuck with a toad, my lady.”

This book is amazing in every way; action, intrigue, love, passion, pain, fight and much more... Please read this book because it is worth to read. Amazing in every way, amazing characters and romance between Sybella and Beast is amazing.

“But most of all, faith is love. Hate cannot be fought with hate. Evil cannot be conquered by darkness. Only love has the power to conquer them both.”
“It is a raw and uncomfortable realization that Beast is partly behind this newfound will to live. Not FOR him, but because he reminded me of what life has to offer. He lives life so joyously-it is impossible not to want that joy for oneself.”

“I am in desperate need of killing something.”

“Besides, he is one of the few things that has ever loved me and survived.”

“A short while later, as I stare down at the bodies of the six men I have just killed, I cannot help but wonder: Do I love killing? Of a certainty, I love the way my body and weapons move as one; I revel in the knowledge of where to strike for maximum impact. And of a certainty, I am good at it.But so is Beast. He is perhaps even better at it than I am, and yet for all that, he feels as bright and golden as a lion who roars in the face of his enemies and stalks them in broad daylight.Whereas I—I am a dark panther, slinking unseen among the shadows, silent and deadly. But we are both great cats, are we not? And do not even bright things cast a shadow?”

I hope you love this book as much as I did. I really loved it and when it ended I want much more. I started to wait for the next and the final one and I don't know how I can finish this trilogy.

Besides, I love this fanart and I remembered this scene. When Beast is sleeping Sybella confidentially stepped inside and wants to check how is he. Sad and also so beautiful scene. I don't want to give more details from book because if I did, I couldn't stop myself and I said spoilers. Anyway, I want to give a million stars for this book but for formal rating as I did from Goodreads, I gave 5-stars.

If you love historical-fiction books, please read this book. You will not disappoint.

As we already know that today is 31st October and that means get your costumes and get prepared for Halloween! I am telling you some book recommendations, film recommendations, TV series recommendations and special costume advices for Halloween!

It might include thrilling recommendations and it may makes you shiver! But it's Halloween, anyway :)

TV SERIES:

I am currently watching Morganville and The Flash. I read Morganville Vampires Series that's why I am watching tv series in Youtube. I din't like it but I like the idea of everyday new episode plan for Halloween because each episode is most 10 minutes and they end the episode in cliffhanger of course.

Anyway, I watch all of these TV series except one of them: American Horror Story. I put this on the list because as we can see by its cover, it looks definitely scary! I am planning to watch American Horror Story for Halloween!

If you prefer vampires, I advice Morganville, or if you want to see more blood definitely your choice must be Walking Dead. Do you think werewolfs are the scariest? Okay, I am gonna say Teen Wolf of course :))

FILMS:

Dracula is a new film and I am really excited to watch this because I always have a really interesting connection with vampire books and films. Especially books. Like Morganville Vampires and Vampire Academy.

I watch trailer and that make me more interested. I am planning to watch this soon. By the way, I love the poster; those bats like his wings. Really original and captivating.

Did you recognize the title? Yes, this film is a book adaptation which is by  's best-selling book Gone Girl. I haven't read it or watched it yet but I hope I will read the book first because I heard lots of good things about the book!

BOOKS:

And these are my advices for who wants to spend their time to read scary books for Halloween. Actually I only read Anna Dressed in Blood but I really want to get the other books sooner :)

You can find the book description for each book which I recommend, I hope you will have a great Halloween and apologize for inattentive post. I had great plans for this post however I just don't have a time so I write fast as soon as I can.

1- GONE GIRL -
On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife's head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media--as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents--the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter--but is he really a killer? As the cops close in, every couple in town is soon wondering how well they know the one that they love. With his twin sister, Margo, at his side, Nick stands by his innocence. Trouble is, if Nick didn't do it, where is that beautiful wife? And what was in that silvery gift box hidden in the back of her bedroom closet?

2- BETWEEN THE DEVIL AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA -

You stop fearing the devil when you’re holding his hand…
Nothing much exciting rolls through Violet White’s sleepy, seaside town… until River West comes along. River rents the guest house behind Violet’s crumbling estate, and as eerie, grim things start to happen, Violet begins to wonder about the boy living in her backyard.
Is River just a crooked-smiling liar with pretty eyes and a mysterious past? Or could he be something more?
Violet’s grandmother always warned her about the Devil, but she never said he could be a dark-haired boy who takes naps in the sun, who likes coffee, who kisses you in a cemetery... who makes you want to kiss back.
Violet’s already so knee-deep in love, she can’t see straight. And that’s just how River likes it.
Blending faded decadence and the thrilling dread of gothic horror, April Genevieve Tucholke weaves a dreamy, twisting contemporary romance, as gorgeously told as it is terrifying—a debut to watch.

 3- ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD-

Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.
So did his father before him, until he was gruesomely murdered by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father's mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. They follow legends and local lore, destroy the murderous dead, and keep pesky things like the future and friends at bay.
Searching for a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas expects the usual: track, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he's never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, now stained red and dripping with blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.
Yet she spares Cas's life.

4-  MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN-

A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of very curious photographs.
It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.
A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

Book Review: OPPOSITION by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.
She can't believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.
Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.
They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.
War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.

It has been a long time to post new review for my blog. I have a lot of causes but that's not my real reason. The reason is I wasn't in the mood of reviewing or posting, or changing anything in my blog. But today I perk up for Opposition book reviw. I have a feeling that I must review this book because this series and the author is amazing :)

Anyway, my first sentence for Opposition is, how a beautiful conclusion! I really loved every pages in it because it is Daemon and Katy, they are perfect and so sweet.  I want to re-read this series again and again. However, Jennifer's other series Covenant series is the best for me that's why I gave 4-stars for this book. (Actually 4.5 stars but Goodreads doesn't exist half stars.)

By the way, this review may contains from the previous books from Lux series so if you haven't read this series I am warning you! :)

As we see in the previous book Origin, Daemon saved Katy, they discovered new secrets together and they promised to fight together. But in the end of the book, Luxen's came and Daemon had to made a decision. Who will he choose? Katy or his family? In the beginning of the book we have concerns for the answer because Daemon is gone with Luxen's and Katy decided to make a plan for getting him back.

This book includes such an amazing action scene and also we can see intense love between Daemon and Katy. My second favorite OTP is Archer and Dee of course. They are so sweet but I annoyed in the beginning of the book to Dee.

“It’s not like I’m going to run up and hug him.” His expression turned bland. “I’d sure hope not. I might get jealous.” “You’d get jealous if she hugged a tree,” Archer tossed out. “Maybe.” Daemon coasted to a stop in a parking space behind the car. “I’m needy like that.”

This series is amazing, they have a lot of action, romance scenes and I really loved this book. This wouldn't be a wrong review because this book is a final book so I don't want to give you major spoilers and ruin this amazing series.
You can read Jennifer Armentrout's books without a second thought. She is very talented author, she knows how to start with series and she shows her talent for how to end to series again :)
My only wish is learn your opinion for this book, please comment below :)

TOP 5 LIST: Favorite Books I Read In Summer Holiday

Hey everyone! I decided to make a list about my favorite summer holiday books and it was hard to pick just 5 of them. Because I read awesome books in 2014 summer holiday. Nevertheless I thought that I can read more during summer but I had a lot of plans to do like going outside, shopping, swimming.. Briefly, I don't find so much hours to read. Anyway, I read 13 books and 2 novellas and that's better than nothing and this is my consolation :D

You can find the book review's below, I reviewed all of books which is in the list because I think they are the best and they deserved reviewing and also recommending :)

By the way there is no ranking up to 1 to 5 these books are the best and I couldn't say I love this one more than this one :)

  Anyway, let's started!

1- FANGIRL by Rainbow Rowell

A coming-of-age tale of fan fiction, family and first love.
Cath is a Simon Snow fan.
Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan...
But for Cath, being a fan is her life—and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it’s what got them through their mother leaving.
Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere.
Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can’t let go. She doesn’t want to.
Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn’t want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She’s got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world, a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words... And she can’t stop worrying about her dad, who’s loving and fragile and has never really been alone.
For Cath, the question is: Can she do this?
Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? Writing her own stories?
And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?
MY RATING: 5/5 stars

THOUGHTS: Fangirl is the first book I read from Rainbow Rowell and I can't wait to read more about her books. Her writing is an easy-read, funny, heartbreaking and also so lovely. Set in a richly imagined new world, The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski is a story of deadly games where everything is at stake, and the gamble is whether you will keep your head or lose your heart.

One of the most beautiful cover I've ever seen. And by the way this is the important fact to why I read this book. But when I learn the plot and watch the trailer, this beauty is just not by it seem, also it is beautiful by inside.
The plot is mysterious and you couldn't stop your curiousness. When I saw this book in Book Depository, I thought that nothing can stop me for buy this beauty even the price. And I bought it and fell in love! :)
The Winner's Curse is as shady as Game of Thrones and I believe all of Game of Thrones fans will love this book like me.

Kestrel is a Valorian and general's daughter so she has two options; marriage or join the military. But she doesn't plan these things.
She is not as powerful as our young adult badass heroines but she has a powerful strategy and this makes her clever.
I really like and also annoyed her. Liked her because she doesn't need to request for help because she can save her own life easily.
I didn't like her because she sometimes makes wrong choices and especially through the ending. She really annoyed me.

And our second main character is Arin. I love Arin so much! He is so strong and also cute and by the way he sometimes annoyed me like Kestrel. They are my favorite couples and their relationship is so real.
In the beginning of the book, they don't like each other but then gingerly they become friends. And then the friendship is becoming so much more and they just can't stop their feelings for each other. They also appealed the rumors about they are together but they know somethings going on between them. That's so obvious. But this make the book's more realistic and believable love.

“Isn't that what stories do, make real things fake, and fake things real?”

“Arin wondered if she would lift her eyes, but wasn’t worried he would be seen in the garden’s shadows. He knew the law of such things: people in brightly lit places cannot see into the dark.”

“You might not think of me as your friend,' Kestrel told Arin, 'but I think of you as mine.”

“Happiness depends on being free, and freedom depends on being courageous.”

The Winner's Curse's ending is just heartbreaking and impressing. I really recommend this book to all Game of Thrones and high fantasy lovers with romance. It is a really fun, heartberaking, beautiful read for me and The Winner's Curse became one of my favorites so far! I can't wait to read next book The Winner's Crime and it's going out in March!!! Waiting is torture for me.
Anyway, if you love intrigues, romance, plot-twisting, cliffhangers, you will really love this book as much as me. I wanted to make a special review but actually nothing can explain all of my feelings about this book. Don't hesitate, just read!! :)

Book Review: THE EDGE OF NEVER by J.A. Redmerski

Will his secret push them inseparably together-or destroy them forever?

The Edge of Never is much more than a book that I thought before. This book make you cry, laugh, crazy and angry easily. You can feel Camryn and Andrew's emotions in it with both their thoughts and persfectives.
I started this book four months ago but I can't really read because of exams and now I am glad to read and finally finished today. Because I couldn't think that I can focus on my exams when I am reading it.
Generally, I don't prefer new-adult books but The Edge of Never has been made a exception and one new-adult book is going to be one of my favorites so far!
Actually, this is so romantic and pure book with no betrayals or violence, which makes me fall in love with this book more.

Our main characters are Camryn and Andrew and they have been through so much difficult situations. Also they will when they met too.
Camryn isn't an annoying girl who likes crying or mourning for every rough situation. This makes her not a typical new-adult heroine. She is strong enough to battle against life's cruelties.
Exactly, this picture is how I imagine her when I am reading. Her blonde braid is like her personality and I like that I can imagine characters and happenings easily in my mind.

“Heart always wins out over the mind. The heart, although reckless and suicidal and a masochist all on its own, always gets its way.”

Andrew is an alpha-male character but he has a fragile and so romantic heart. I love his personality, he never bothers me although I wish we could learn much about his brothers; Aidan and Asher.
When the pages are gone one by one, you can guess that what can be the Andrew's secret. I guess easily but I had concerns with it and I just hoped that I would be wrong. Also in that day, I see in my dreams that I guess the same idea about secret and search in the internet and I just saw that is true. When I woke up, the dream make me feel weird because I just feel that I already know what the secret is :D So funny and weird, I know :)

I don't want to give this book just 5-stars. Because 5-stars is actually couldn't demonstrate that how much I love this book. I just want to give all of the universe's stars :) That might seem I am a little bit exaggerating but when you read that book, you can actually think about the same way.

“You were the missing piece of my soul, the breath in my lungs, and the blood in my veins.”
“I think that if past lives are real then we have been lovers in every single one of them. I've known you for a short time, but I feel like I've known you forever.”
“Just that dwelling and planning is bullshit, you dwell on the past, you can’t move forward. Spend too much time planning for the future and you just push yourself backwards, or you stay stagnant in the same place all your life. Live in the moment, where everything is just right, take your time and limit your bad memories and you’ll get wherever it is you’re going a lot faster and with less bumps in the road along the way.”
“Just remember to always be yourself and don’t be afraid to speak your mind or to dream out loud”
“I want you, goddammit! … The thought of you leaving at never seeing you again tears-me-up-inside! … I can’t fucking breathe without you!”
“You two were meant to be together. It's like some wicked fucking fairytale love story that you just can't make up, y'know?”
“Are you in love with me, Camryn Bennett?”… “Not yet,” I say with a smile in my voice, “but I’m getting there.”
“The moment you see someone attractive, you can't help but make note of it. It's human nature.”

If you love romance books with road-trip travels and devastated characters you will love this book like me. There is no more words to describe my feelings; this book is just blew me away and make me cry. I am planning to read this book again and again. Because it is worth to read.
I heard that there is also the second book and I am really curious about it too. I can't wait to read more Andrew and Camryn scenes I already miss them so much!!

I hope you enjoy my review, have a nice week!! :)
