Book Review: THE BOOK OF IVY by Amy Engel

After a brutal nuclear war, the United States was left decimated. A small group of survivors eventually banded together, but only after more conflict over which family would govern the new nation. The Westfalls lost. Fifty years later, peace and control are maintained by marrying the daughters of the losing side to the sons of the winning group in a yearly ritual.
This year, it is my turn.
My name is Ivy Westfall, and my mission is simple: to kill the president’s son—my soon-to-be husband—and restore the Westfall family to power.
But Bishop Lattimer is either a very skilled actor or he’s not the cruel, heartless boy my family warned me to expect. He might even be the one person in this world who truly understands me. But there is no escape from my fate. I am the only one who can restore the Westfall legacy.
Because Bishop must die. And I must be the one to kill him…

Hey,everyone! I know I haven't been her for a long time but for now I am going to post a book reviews as much as possible. I finished The Book of Ivy yesterday and I am just speechless because I don't think I will love this book so much but now, after reading this amazing book, I can say this book is one of the most amazing book I've ever read.

It is so stunning and beautiful. I just can't define all of my feelings and the ending is torturing me. I don't know how I can wait till the next book.( The second book will out in November.)

If you love dystopian book with irresistable romance, you should no you must have to read this book.

Ivy is a strong girl who is determined to take her revenge from Lattimer's because of her father's revolution. I don't like Ivy's parents because they are acting to Ivy like she is a puppet and Ivy only wants to be loved by her parents.

I can't define Bishop because he became my favorite character in this book. Because he always does the right choice and his relationship with Ivy is so realistic because it takes slow and deep. He is honest, he has wishes and he wants to make Ivy happy. Bishop is so kind, sweet, handsome.. I can say Bishop has all of the good characters and possibly deserve to being loved by Ivy.

I can't say this book has full of action. Actually The Book of Ivy is a romance book more than dystopian. It has dystopian World but it isn't focused on the World-building like The Hunger Games or the other dystopian books. I like it in this way better because I love Bishop, Ivy and their relationship.

THE ENDING...
The most annoying part... When I realized the book has just finished, I just get upset because of the ending and also realized I have to wait untill November... Please give the second book to meee!!! TORTUREE!!!

“He blows out a breath, takes a step toward me. The hallway is so narrow that I’m pinned between the wall and his body, heat rolling off him in waves. “Yeah,” he says, voice low. “I feel things.” His green eyes burn. It’s the most emotion I’ve seen from him so far, and I have trouble taking a full breath, my lungs compressed with tension. “That’s the whole point, Ivy. I want you to feel them, too.”

“He didn’t save me, though. He allowed me the freedom to save myself, which is the very best type of rescue.”

“You’re easy to read, Ivy, but the whole book of you is complicated.”

“He knows me better than anyone ever has. Than anyone ever will again. I would have stopped it if I could have. But I've learned the hard way, we can't choose who we love. Love chooses us. Love doesn't care about what's convenient or easy or planned. Love has its own agenda and all we can do is get out of its way.”

Book Review: A THOUSAND PIECES OF YOU by Claudia Gray

Every Day meets Cloud Atlas in this heart-racing, space- and time-bending, epic new trilogy from New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray.
Marguerite Caine’s physicist parents are known for their radical scientific achievements. Their most astonishing invention: the Firebird, which allows users to jump into parallel universes, some vastly altered from our own. But when Marguerite’s father is murdered, the killer—her parent’s handsome and enigmatic assistant Paul—escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.
Marguerite can’t let the man who destroyed her family go free, and she races after Paul through different universes, where their lives entangle in increasingly familiar ways. With each encounter she begins to question Paul’s guilt—and her own heart. Soon she discovers the truth behind her father’s death is more sinister than she ever could have imagined.
A Thousand Pieces of You explores a reality where we witness the countless other lives we might lead in an amazingly intricate multiverse, and ask whether, amid infinite possibilities, one love can endure.

žA Thousand Pieces of You is one of the most amazing book I’ve read in 2015. This book reminds me why science-fiction is one of my favorite genre. This book made me mesmerized, astonished, sad, happy,..
žAs you see in the plot, it is about parallel universes which is so different topic for me. I really want to read because when I saw in Goodreads and read the plot, I knew this book is interesting because I never read a book about parallel universes and that makes me more curious about reading.
žI bought A Thousand Pieces of You in Book Depository and when it came to my home, this makes my day brightful and I got a hardcover version which is so beautiful.
ž
ž   I think this book’s best part for me is science-fiction parts. Because while I was reading, I can imagine how the Firebird works and how it looks like. That’s because of Claudia Gray’s amazing writing style.

       THE CHARACTERS
žMarguerite Caine: She is so strong character and she is determined to take her revenge from her dad’s murderer. If she wants to catch the boy who killed her father-Paul-, she have to try to go to another parallel dimension which is so dangerous because she hasn’t use that before and noone use the Firebird except Paul. Also her friend Theo is determined to come with her and they didn’t know that would be so dangerous job because they don’t know the truth. Marguerite don’t want to believe Paul is guilty because she know him very well for a long time.

žPaul Markov: I didn’t believe he was guilty at the firsttime because I really love Paul; his relationship with Marguerite is so sweet and I love Paul in parallel universe in Russia. He is Marguerite’s guard and he is so strong.
žThe Firebird has found by Marguerite’s parents and her parents are scientists. Instead of, she is interested in art. I love her feelings about love and these are quotable scenes for me.

ž  I really like this quote becasuse it describe how the parallel dimension works:

ž   “Apparently, when people travel between dimensions, their physical forms are "no longer observable," which is a quantum mechanics thing, and explaining it involves this whole story about a cat that's in a box and is simultaneously alive and dead until you open the box, and it gets seriously complicated. Never ask a physicist about that cat.”

“Every form of art is another way of seeing the world. Another perspective, another window. And science –that’s the most spectacular window of all. You can see the entire universe from there.”

“I would love you in any shape, in any world, with any past. Never doubt that. -Lt. Markov”

žWhen I heard the second book comes out, I was so happy because the
ending is not like ending at all. This book will come
out in November and I have already missed the
characters.
žI love the first cover more but the second one
is also so pretty
And these covers make me want to read the
first one again!
ž
žIf you love science-fiction, young adult, romance books you will definitely love A Thousand Pieces of You. Parallel universe thing is so unique from the other books and Claudia Gray’s writing style is so absorbing. I will recommend this book because it is one of the best book I’ve ever read. Before I started to read this book, I had high expectations too because of the plot but when I finished it, I don’t want to leave the world of imagination about real parallel universes.
ž I gave 5-stars definitely and I can’t wait to read the second one! J
